Trooper Kevin Trainor

The Fire Chiefs Association of Massachusetts extends its most sincere and and heartfelt condolences to the family of Massachusetts State Trooper Kevin Trainor, who was killed by a wrong-way driver on Rt. 1 in Lynnfield this week.

Trooper Trainor, a three-year veteran of the State Police was returning home from his shift when he received a report of a wrong-way driver on the southbound side of Rt. 1. He chose to respond, placing himself directly in harm’s way in between the wrong-way driver and countless other potential civilian vehicles.

Trooper Trainor lived and died as a hero, and his noble sacrifice shall never be forgotten.

His brother, Matthew Trainor, serves as a firefighter in the City of Salem. The Fire Chiefs Association acknowledges and thanks the Trainor family for their collective service to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. With difficult days ahead, the fire services stands with our brothers and sisters in law enforcement, and we will be there to support the Trainor Family and Firefighter Matthew Trainor in any way.
