Information for Firefighters and the Public: Mass State Trooper Kevin Trainor’s Walk Through and Funeral
- The firefighters’ uniform for both events will be full Class A with cloves
- Salem Firefighter Matt Trainer is the brother of Trooper Trainer. Salem Fire will be participating in the events as a group.
- Although all uniformed firefighters are welcome to attend, access to the area immediately surrounding the church will be limited to family and police.
Walk through:
- The wake will be held at the Conway Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, in Peabody, tomorrow, Tuesday, May 12.
- Uniform personnel walk-through will commence at 3:00 PM
- Public visiting hours are 4:00 to 7:00 PM
Funeral:
- The funeral is scheduled for Wednesday at 11:00 AM at St. James Church on Federal St, Salem.
- Uniform personnel are invited to form on Boston and Bridge Street beginning at the intersection with Boston St. Please reserve the area toward Flint Street for the State police and invited honor guards. Arrive by 9:15
- Most streets around St. James will be closed, and parking will be limited.
- Following the funeral, there will be additional ceremonies, a gun salute, and a flyover.
- The burial will be private.
Honor Guard:
- Honor guards are limited to police only
Other Information:
- Peabody and Lynnfield have generously volunteered to display the large American flag for the events in both Peabody and Salem.
Non-Uniform Personnel:
- Thousands of state and local police officers are expected to come to Salem on Wednesday to pay their respects to Trooper Trainer and his family at a funeral Mass at St. James Church on Federal in Salem. The area from Boston Street along Bridge Street to Flint, then along Flint Street to Federal Street, will be reserved for uniform personnel only. Members of the public who wish to pay their respects as part of the processional are asked to line the streets from the Conway Funeral Home to the church, through Peabody, to Salem.
- The processional route will include parts of the following streets:
Peabody: Lynn St to Washington Street to Main Street.
Salem: Boston St. to Bridge St. to Flint St. to Federal.

Non-uniform civilians who wish to line the route should do so beginning at 9:30 am.
