Message from the President Chief Brian F. Nardelli, Brockton FD
As we move into the summer months, please reflect back on the year that you have had to serve your community and FCAM. The summer is a wonderful time in Massachusetts, and an incredible time to unwind.
The pressures of the role of Fire Chief are never ending, please use this time to spend with your family and friends and enjoy this wonderful weather. We face many challenges in our communities. Please know that the Executive Board and Board of Directors are here to serve you and assist you in your needs. Sometimes
that is someone to run something by, or simply to vent.
Please enjoy your summer and look forward to charging forward with all of you in
the fall.
Godspeed

Monthly Highlights
The Fire Chiefs Association of Massachusetts recently held a Mini-Vendor Show during its June meeting at the Jockey Club. Members gathered and met with vendors to see the latest in fire apparatus, ambulances and technology, while networking with other departments and industry professionals.
Thank you to all the vendors who were part of our mini-vendor show, we appreciate your support!
From the Governmental Affairs Director
The end of formal legislative session is approaching – July 31. There is a rush to
get many Bills across the finish line. Any Bills that are considered “controversial”
must be passed by then. Any other Bills may be passed in informal session
which runs through the end of the calendar year. The Budget process is in its
final stage. The House and Senate final versions are complete. In the Senate
version the full amounts are included for S.A.F.E., the CISD teams, and the On-
Site Academy. There is $100 thousand included in the EOPSS base budget to
study and lay out a framework to transfer OEMS from DPH to EOPSS. The
Budget has now gone to a Conference Committee made up of 3 Senators and 3
Representatives to negotiate a final version. All members of the Conference
Committee have been contacted regarding our issues in the Budget. The
Governor has filed a stop gap 1/12 th. Budget Bill in the likely event that the
Conference Committee has not completed their work prior to July 1.
