With great sadness Dartmouth Fire District 3 announces the passing of Firefighter Alan C. King. Alan suffered a medical emergency at home on June 13th and remained in critical condition at St. Lukes Hospital until his passing on June 25th .
Alan spent his first fifteen years with the Fire District as an On-Call Firefighter until obtaining a career Firefighters position in 2016. As a licensed paramedic, Alan was instrumental in the fire department achieving a licensed EMS service in 2009 and was the first President of the Dartmouth Permanent Firefighters District 3 Local 5156.
In 2008 Alan was elected by the voters of the Fire District to the District’s Prudential Committee. Serving on the Committee for nine years, Alan worked on many projects including the replacement of numerous fire apparatus and the funding and re-construction of the District’s Headquarters fire station which provided living quarters for the department’s expanding permanent workforce.
The Fire District mourns the loss of Alan and is truly indebted to his service and our thoughts and prayers go out to his loving wife Lisa during this incredibly difficult time.
Arrangements will be announced as they become available.
Sincerely,
Richard Arruda
Fire Chief
Dartmouth Fire District 3
