He was the father of FF. Edward Murphy Jr (E-10 retired), Lt. Michael Murphy (E-7 retired), D.C Richard Murphy (Sharon F.D.)
Uncle of F.F. Robert Cadman (E-1), F.F. Mark Cadman (E-4), Capt. Russell Cadman (HQ Retired)
He was appointed to the department in 1961
Promoted Lieutenant in 1969,
Promoted Captain in 1973
Promoted Deputy Chief in 1977
Appointed Acting Chief in 1994
Appointed Chief of Dept. in 1995
Retired in 2003 after 42-years
He proudly served our Country in the United States Navy
