Michael W. Murphy age 69 of Rockland died early morning July 24th, 2026 at Beth Israel Deaconess hospital, in Boston surrounded by his loved ones after a short illness.

He was born in Quincy, raised and educated in Braintree schools and was a graduate of Braintree high school, class of 1974. He was a long-term resident of Rockland.

He married his late wife, Patricia Murphy "Patti" in 1977. And from there on out they started their beautiful life together. He graduated from the police academy in 1983, right after his daughter Erin was born. From there on, he became a Metropolitan police officer out of south Boston, and shortly after was a Massachusetts state trooper. He retired in 2016.

Michael enjoyed spending quality time with his family, boating, fishing, and he "loved" listening and sharing his music amongst his family.

Beloved father of Erin Clark, and her husband Joshua Clark. Beloved Grandchildren Sean, and Shea Clark of Pembroke, beloved son of late Margret A. "Keegan" Murphy and the late John J. Murphy Jr. of Braintree, devoted brother of Kathleen M. Murphy of Weymouth, Kevin J. Murphy, retired chief, Braintree fire department and his wife Sarah of Braintree, Brain J. Murphy of Braintree, John P. Murphy, retired Chief Scituate Fire Dept. and his wife Genevieve of Scituate, the late Patricia M. Murphy of Braintree, Mathew J. Murphy and his wife Dawn of Westfield, Brenda L. Murphy and Phil Charleton of Onset, the late Thomas P. Murphy, late Sharon A. Murphy, and late Mary C. Murphy. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday July 31, 2026 from 4-7 at Magoun Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St Rockland MA 02370. A Mass will be held at Holy Family Church in Rockland at 9AM Saturday August 1, 2026, 403 Union St, and a burial at Holy Family Cemetery, 92 Centre St Rockland MA 02370.
