Death of Fire Chief George W. Parrott III, Saugus Fire Department, served as FCAM President 1990-1991 (copy)

The Officers and Members of FCAM extend their sincere condolences to the family of Chief Parrott and the Saugus Fire Department, please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

SAUGUS- Chief George W. Parrott III (SFD) retired, age 97, died on Friday, December 20th at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. He was the husband of the late Elsie Jane (Roberts) Parrott, with whom he shared 69 years of marriage.

Born in Lynn and a lifelong resident of Saugus, he was the son of the late George W. Jr. and Marion (Pattee) Parrott. He was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II having served aboard the USS North Carolina, the USS Waller and the USS Dyson. Chief Parrott was a member of the Saugus Fire Department, who were all truly his family as well, for over 37 years serving as a Firefighter, Lieutenant, Captain and was the Saugus Fire Chief from 1983 to 1991. He was an Instructor of Fire Sciences at North Shore Community College and Bunker Hill Community College. Chief Parrott was also the Past President of the Fire Chiefs Association of Massachusetts and the Essex County Fire Chiefs Association.

Chief Parrott is survived by his four children; George W. Parrott IV and his fiancée Sasha Stevens of Saugus, Cheryl Doyle and her husband Lawrence Sr. of Georgetown, Donna Joyce and her husband Robert Jr. of Tewksbury, and Jayne Parrott and her husband Richard Tonner of Saugus. George is also survived by four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his two brothers Charles F. Parrott and Robert O. Parrott.

At the request of Chief Parrott services were private. A Memorial Service will be planned at a later date.
