Who is FCAM?
The Fire Chiefs Association of Massachusetts has a membership of just over 800 members that includes Fire Chief's, Deputy Fire Chiefs, product vendors and other fire service professionals that work towards a common goal of making the fire service a safer environment for it's members and works towards the goal of fire safe communities across the commonwealth through advocacy and supporting legislation.

How many organized Fire Departments are in the state of MA?
There are 366 fire departments serving the 351 cities and towns.

How do I become a credentialed Fire Chief?
The Fire Chief credentialing program is solely administered by the Massachusetts Fire Service Commission. Any current Chief of Department or Chief Officer shall be eligible to apply for credentialing. Additionally, any person holding the rank of Lieutenant or above in that department shall also be eligible to apply for credentialing. Participation in this program is voluntary and all eligible personnel are encouraged to participate. One copy of the Fire Chief Credentialing Program Application must be completed and submitted with all required documentation to: DFS.credentialing@state.ma.us

What professional development opportunities does FCAM offer?
Each year FCAM hosts the largest fire service professional development conference in the state. The last several years the event has been held at the Worcester DCU Center. For more information regarding professional development visit www.fcamseminars.org
