Rye, NH 

The Town of Rye, NH (pop 5,300), is seeking an experienced fire officer for the position of fire chief.  Rye is located along 9 miles of the beautiful NH Seacoast, and its miles of beaches make this a busy tourist and seasonal destination.  This full-service Fire/EMS department, with a combined budget of approximately $1.5M, is currently comprised of an interim PT chief, 9 FT, and 12 PT firefighter/EMTs, including several paramedics.  The Fire Department is also responsible for managing the Town’s summer lifeguards. In 2016, the Department responded to 859 emergency calls, of which 529 were for medical aid, resulting in 388 transports (178 at ALS level).

Associate’s degree in fire science or related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred); at least 10 years progressively responsible relevant experience, including 3 years as a command officer or 6 years as a company officer; Certified Driver Operator, State of NH Firefighter Level 2 and Fire Officer I certification; nationally registered EMT (Paramedic preferred); OR any equivalent combination of education and experience. Salary range $70,500 -$86,600.  Starting salary commensurate w/qualifications. The Town of Rye is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
