FCAM - Call to Action

Posted on: July 28, 2016

[ARCHIVED] Group for DFS H.B. 4400

Your help is needed in passing Group 4 for DFS : House Bill 4400 (original Bill filed by Rep Toomey is House Bill 2428),

As of this past Monday the Group 4 Legislation for DFS has undergone a 3rd reading by the Legislators. It is our hopes, where the House is in full session on Saturday, it is passed by the House and moved to the Senate, whom is in full session on Sunday. WE cannot express the importance of this legislation. FCAM has been working on Group 4 retirement for certain DFS positions for two decades. Our efforts have always fallen short, never reaching this critical point. We urge you and all fire service personnel in this CALL TO ACTION to contact your State Representatives and Senators now and ask for a yes vote.

FCAM Executive Board

H.B.4400:

Amends GL 32:3 to include the following employees of the Department of Fire Services in Group 4 of the state retirement system: the Deputy Fire Marshal, the Director of the Division of Training, the Director of Hazardous Materials, the Recruit Training Coordinator and Code Compliance Officers. (New draft of HB2428. The new draft expands these provisions to include any full time employees of the Department of Fire Services who had previously been full time members of a fire department of any city, town, fire district, Fort Devens, the 104th Fighter Wing Fire Department or the Massachusetts Military Reservation Fire Department, for 10 years or more, and had previously been classified in Group 4.)
