As part of a review of our attendance management practices, I am looking to gather examples of policies related to sick leave utilization within fire departments.
If your department has a policy, procedure, guideline, or contract language that addresses any of the following, I would greatly appreciate a copy:
Appropriate use of sick leave
Excessive sick leave usage
Documentation requirements (physician’s notes, fitness-for-duty certifications, etc.)
Attendance monitoring or sick leave review processes
Restricted sick leave status
Measures used to curb or address suspected sick leave abuse
If you are willing to share your policy, please forward a copy at your convenience.
