• The end of formal session for the Legislature is July 31^st.  Non-controversial Bills can still be taken up through the rest of the calendar year.  Major Bills can still be dealt with if they have gone to a joint House/Senate Conference Committee.  Most of our Bills would be considered non-controversial.
• An Economic Development Bill is working its way through the process, and there are two items of note contained in it:
  • There is language in the Senate version to create a study committee to draft language for a Municipal Building Authority, which is reworked language from the Public Safety Building Authority Bills.  FCAM would have a seat on that Committee.
  • The is a also language to create a study Committee for micromobility devices, FCAM has a seat on that Committee as well.
• There is a Primary Health Care Bill being considered – currently there are proposed Amendments in the House version that would include the language for the Medicaid enhancement program and the language for the Surprise Billing/Patients’ Rights legislation.
• The Bill to modify Chapter 148, Section 26I has passed the House and has been sent to the Senate.
• A Bill that would require municipally contracted health plans to provide cancer screenings for firefighters every three years at no cost to the employee has passed the House and has been sent over to the Senate.
• Legislation for the State to take the Norwood Hospital property by eminent domain has passed the Senate and the House and will be sent to the Governor.  She has stated that she will sign it.
• On the Federal side, Senator Elizabeth Warren has co-signed a bi-partisan Bill to direct the federal Trade Commission to investigate the fire apparatus industry and it’s monopoly and pricing issues.
