FCAM Officers and members extend sympathies to Deputy Chief Roy’s family and the Fitchburg Fire Department. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
It is with a heavy heart that the Chief of the Department announces the passing of active-duty Deputy Chief Patrick James Roy.
PJ has been a member of the Fitchburg Fire Department since November 21, 2006 and has been in the Deputy Chief’s role for the last three years. PJ has
been a member of the department for nearly 20 years, he has had a foundational presence at the department since he was a child. PJ comes from a long line of
Fitchburg Firefighters, starting with his grandfather Verne who came on to the department in 1947, his father Jimmy, his uncle Kevin, cousin Andrew, and
brother Sean. For PJ, firefighting was a family heritage and a dream come true when he became a Fitchburg Firefighter. Since the day he was sworn in, PJ has placed the safety and well-being of our residents above all else. The passing of PJ leaves a large void in our department and the community. He is loved by all and will truly be missed. Rest in Peace PJ.
