Londonderry, New Hampshire, is a dynamic community of 27,000 residents and ranks among
the top ten largest towns in the state. Despite its size, Londonderry offers a well-planned balance
of residential neighborhoods and thriving commercial development, fostering both livability and
economic vitality. Ideally situated in southern New Hampshire, the Town provides direct access to
Interstate 93 via three exits and is well-connected to Manchester, Derry, and the Greater Boston
area. A portion of the Manchester–Boston Regional Airport (MHT) lies within the Town, further
enhancing its regional accessibility. Londonderry is governed by a five- member Town Council, with
the Fire Chief appointed by and reporting directly to the Town Manager.
The Fire Chief also serves as the Emergency Manager. Operating from three stations, the Department
is an ISO Class 4/4Y full-service fire/rescue and EMS organization that has a total of 61 full-time
personnel. The Department operates from three stations and responds to approximately 4,700 fire and
EMS calls per year. The current annual operating budget of the Fire Department is approximately
$10.27 million.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to be an integral part of the Town’s
leadership team. Applicants must have a minimum of ten years’ career fire service experience,
five of which are as a fire officer and three of which are in a responsible command position
(Battalion Chief or above). A bachelor’s degree in Fire Science, Public Administration, EMS,
Homeland Security or in or a related field is required with a master’s preferred. NIMS, Fire
Officer, Chief Fire Officer, Fire Instructor, Fire Inspector, and EMT training and certification
are required as outlined within the current job description.
Applicants must possess strong labor/management, leadership and communication skills and have a
strong background in fire service operations and administration. Excellent benefit package, salary
is negotiable depending upon experience, qualifications, and education. Salary range to $165,242.
Starting salary commensurate with qualifications.
