Summary
This is a department head level position. Performs a variety of technical, administrative, and supervisory work in planning, organizing, directing, and implementing fire prevention, fire suppression, emergency medical services, and emergency management to prevent or minimize the loss of life and property by fire, emergency medical conditions, and other disasters. Ensures the Town is in compliance with all State and Federal requirements and that the public receives high quality fire, emergency medical, and emergency management services.
Minimum Qualifications
1.Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in fire science, public administration, or a closely related field (Master’s Degree preferred); and
2.Minimum of ten (10) years of related experience in fire and emergency medical service work, including at least five (5) years of progressive supervisory or management experience with proven personnel management ability;
3.Any equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience, with additional work experience substituting for the required education on a year for year basis.
Special Requirements
1.
Completion of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Chief Fire Officers Management Training Program or the ability to complete training within eighteen (18) months of hire;
2.
Current Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic license;
3.
Must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid State Driver’s License without record of suspension or revocation in any state.
