The Town of Marshfield, Massachusetts (population 25,806) is seeking to fill the position of Fire Chief. The Town of Marshfield Fire Department is a Civil Service department, with the exception of the Fire Chief. The Fire Chief is appointed by the Select Board and works under the administrative oversight of the Town Administrator. The position is a “strong fire chief” pursuant to General Laws, c. 48, §42. The Fire Chief manages a $6.8M operational budget and oversees 50 full time employees. The Fire Chief is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all fire department activities, including emergency medical services, firefighting, fire prevention, rescue operations, hazardous materials, incident management, and disaster management. Pre-employment medical evaluation and background check shall be required.
